Honors Projects and Library Assistance

If you are a student working on an Honors Project don't forget to come by the library and get set up for research assistance with one of the three librarians. We can assign one of the librarians (or you can choose either Ms. Peterson, Mrs. Ravenell, or Mr. Horton yourself) to assist you throughout the work on your Project - they'll help you get started on your research, assist you in finding materials that aren't available in Jarrett Library, and be a listening post if you need it! We'll be there from the beginning until the day you turn in the Project - as long as you need assistance.

Honors students can also request a change in their patron status and we also suggest a TexShare card, which will allow you to check out materials from other Texas libraries (academic and public) that also participate in the TexShare card program.

Black History Month Display: The Buffalo Soldiers

February is Black History Month and Jarrett Library has put up its annual display. This year the theme deals with the "Buffalo Soldiers." The "Buffalo Soldiers" were one of the first six all African American Army regiments created by Congress in 1866. Four of the regiments were infantry and two were cavalry. New Test Prep eLibrary

The Library is excited to announce the addition of Mometrix eLibrary for some hard-to-find test prep books. Accounting For students who are preparing for the CPA you now have access to CPA Exam Secrets .  The guide covers the content on the test and also provides "insight into typical test taking mistakes and how to overcome them." Welcome back for the Spring 2018 semester.  Because of the way the school calendar is laid out at the beginning we wanted to clarify our hours through the first week of classes.  As most of you know classes will not actually begin until January 16th which is a Tuesday.  This is due to the Martin Luther King Holiday on the 15th.  Because of it falling outside of the regular semester we will not be open later on that day.  The first day of library hours will be the 16th. As usual, the Library will only be open until 9 PM that first week of classes.  So the hours for the 16th-18th will be 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.  As per our policy the doors will be locked 10 minutes before closing time, so if you need to come by make sure you are in the library by 8:50 p.m.  The hours on the 19th will be 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Regular hours will resume on Saturday, January 20th.
